“As practice makes perfect, I cannot but make progress; each drawing one makes, each study one paints, is a step forward.” – Vincent van Gogh

The concept of “perfect” is elusive at best, and not constructive most of the time when working. Van Gogh had the right attitude about one’s practice. Keep the trajectory moving forward and developing without seeking the shadowy ghost called perfection. That said, easier said than done!

It is good to know that schools are no longer teaching “perfect”. Perhaps the coming generations will not suffer as dramatically as we did. Striving for excellence, however, is a worthy goal in my opinion.
